Web Content and Design

I can create basic WordPress sites that are easy to navigate and crafted with effective content and design. One graduate course I have completed that has greatly expanded my knowledge on the topic is Web Design and Online Writing. I applied best practices presented by such editors and authors as Ellen Lupton (Type on Screen) and Ginny Redish (Letting Go of the Words) to create a website for a client. Throughout the course, I was also able to learn about and apply SEO, HTML and CSS knowledge to the overall project.

The resulting site, AMWhitsett Art, is a WordPress website created for artisan Marisa Whitsett, who creates handbound journals and commissioned colored pencil art from her home in Memphis, Tennessee. I stayed in correspondence with her throughout the process of researching and building the site to create content and a design that works for her and her clients. Once we had discussed needs and goals, I created a site map from which to base my work.

In addition, I created a logo and tagline for use across various platforms. The resulting site is visually appealing while encouraging a call to action by users.
